This was an attempt to eliminate the need for a relatively special oil that might not be readily available. In this case, the engine would NOT start even with a dozen or more prime runs. What it took to get it to keep running after a prime burst was to FIRST heat up the engine with a heat gun. That did the trick, a prime burst or three and the engine caught and kept going. Mounting the 1800 diesel escort engine as a heater.(part 1)

i decided to mount the escort engine and run it as a heater by using the rad and fan. it will be started via a control box at the other side of the workshop and the rad is mounted half way along the workshop on long pipes, just chuks out heat into the workshop, and charges a 12volt batery bank which runs our homemade lead lights made of car headlights, and other 12v devices :D she hasnt been started for over 2 months and i think you will be supprised. …
